MINT College's Theater Arts Program Head Bernardo Bernardo passed away on Thursday, March 8. He was 73 years old.

Bernardo’s death was announced via Facebook by his niece, Susan Vecina Santos.

In January, Sir BB—as his students and colleagues fondly called him—posted about the tumor that doctors found in his pancreas, “As it grows it begins to press on the bile duct and the pancreatic duct and with increasing pressure, the ducts eventually get pinched off,” Bernardo said.

The late Theater Arts program head is well-known for his role in “Home Along da Riles” as Steve Carpio. He is an acclaimed television, film, and theater actor with awards from Gawad Urian for Best Actor for Ishmael Bernal’s “City After Dark,” and Best Supporting Actor for the 2016 movie, “Imbisibol”.

His last movies were “The Significant Other,” and the movie adaptation of Nick Joaquin’s classic, “Ang Larawan.”

His wake is ongoing at the St. Peter’s Chapel along Araneta Avenue in Quezon City.
